If you floss your teeth too hard, you might be hurting your mouth. It is important to brush and floss daily, but it is important to do it correctly. Just as brushing should take at least five minutes, there are tips and tricks to how to best floss your teeth.

Our dentist, Dr. Donald Kim, is passionate about your oral health. Together with our team at Vista Dental in Vancouver, Washington, we want to give you a few tips for how you should be flossing your teeth.

When you floss, it should be strong enough to remove any unwanted food or bacteria from between your teeth. If you push too hard you might cause damage to your gums. If you don’t floss hard enough, you might not be able to remove things from between your teeth.

As most people are not flossing daily, when you start this routine you will notice some discomfort. There should be slight discomfort, but it should not be painful. The slight discomfort while flossing should only last a week or two. If your pain or discomfort continues longer than that, please schedule an appointment with us today so we can see if there is anything we can do to help you.
